I’m on Twitter because I like a good laugh, but there are some people who want to bitch!!!! Why? Why be friends, why follow them???? Why waste energy bad mouthing them??? WHYYYY!!!!!!

I’m on Bebo because I like the photos and seeing what people are up to, but others want to say  things like ‘Our night out was great (ie its better than yours, and also my dads a better fighter than yours). Its like one upmanship. Pathetic! Why be pals with them??? Eh??

And don’t start me on Facebook – mainly because I can’t really work it hahaha!

It’s a weekend in Blackpool, tat capital of the UK, but it’s great!

Me and all my mates….what could go wrong lol!!!!

Had some pull outs, but its all looking good.

My best man Bren has organised and I’m looking forward to it.

Hopefully I will get some stories for here!

The problem is, when I watch horrors, it triggers my sleep disorder, which is like a sleeping version of restless leg syndrome. But more on this later.

Back to watching horror movies. I’m inspired to write this because a film called The Descent has came on the telly, a film which I have seen a right few times, and even went to the cinema to see.

Well when I say see at the cinema, I seen most of it cowering behind my hands clasped over my eyes! Anyways, my long suffering partner (who loves horrors) and I went to see the film on a Sunday showing at 6ish, so it wasn’t mega busy. Anyway (I use that word loads), there must have been only about 20 folk in to see it that night.

The missus and me take our seats about half way down and to the right and settled down to weatch the film. Bearing in mind I wanted to see James Bond or something like that, I had comforted myself in a big box of popcorn to consolidate me not getting my choice of film.

If you haven’t seen the film, its about some gals who go potholing or whatever you call it down a big bloody underground cave thing and have a few personal tramaus/issues etc, and realise they are not alone down there.

Anyways…. it gets to a point in the film where they start getting chased by the unkown terror, so they all run and end up in a big cave. It’s pitch black and none of the gals can see anything, but one of them has a night vision camera. So they get it and have a look around. The camera slowly passes from one girl/potential victim to the next one, and with each panic stricken face on the screen, the more my heart beat faster. But no! A sweep of all the team and they’re all safe, so a quick sweep back to tell them and…there it is!!! BANG! Behind one of the girls is the wee bogey man type guy.

Well that was me……at the top of my voice, in a half empty cinema (no hiding)…I jumps up and screams “Ohhh ya bastard!!!” at the same time as my popcorn volleyed its way 10 foot in the air.

By the time I landed, the sound of sniggering at me, a big burly, almost mafiaoso type of guy, screaming at the top of his voice was deafining!!! I turned round and my missus was killing herself laughing at me, but with a look of non surprise on her face. I actually thinks she enjoys watching me more than the films.

Thats what I’m like at horror, and I haven’t told you about the aliens and werewolves!

Anyway more will be revealed in the next part as this is more like a short story now!

5 One million other songs!!!!!!, these lists are hard to pick I think so I’ll cop out and take this option. It could be American Trilogy by Elvis or it could be Perfect Day by Lou Reed, and then again, what about True by Spandau Ballet, Chelsea Girl by Simple Minds, Walk On by Gerry and the Pacemakers, Let It Be by The Beatles, where you want me to stop!!!!

I hate music snobs. I bloody hate them.

It all came to a head with Alexandra Burke and her cover of  ’Hallelujah’.  I had to endure friends on Bebo, Facebook etc moaning about how she had sullied a great song, and raising ‘We hate Alexandea Burke’ groups.  All bleatin on about how Rufus Wainwrights version is sacred etc etc. and how she has commited sacralige!

Lets get this into perspective. Most of those bleatin little runts had never heard the song until they watched the film Shrek, and probably don’t realise that a) it is a Leonard Cohen song and b) it is John Cale of Velvet Underground that sings it on the Shrek film.

What these numb nuts are missing the point of, is that these cover versions open you up to other artists. So all these precious Rufus lovers do not realise that if even 5 per cent of Burke’s fans decide to find out more about the song then they will probably get into Rufus. Just like the wee runts who will look into the song and find out more about Cohen, more about Cale, which in turn will lead them to Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop etc etc.

Christ they might even get exposed to Dylan (who first performed the song) or even Katherine Jenkins, who also covered it! So this will take them on a musical journey either one way or another!

My point is without cover versions, I know I would not have got into, or discovered a thousand other artists. I got into Lou Reed, Glen Campbell and Motown all through one album of covers (BEF’s Music of Quality and Distinction, if you need to know). And then from there I was exposed to Sam Cooke, Johnny Cash and millions others.

Have a look at some of my playlists they read like a WTF of music! I like a tune and not the image behind it.

I love the fact that my daughter loves Miley Cyrus, and John and Edward- I love the fact my daughter likes music. Cos one day Miley will cover a Beatles or a Stones song or even Take That, and then she might think, I’ll listen to these Beatles or Stones guys, or Take That and then she’s moved on to another branch of music.

So Music Snob, instead of throwing your arms up in protest at the latest manufacured popette covering a ‘sacred’ tune and getting all anal retentive and starting protest groups on facespace or wherever, - be glad that this might   expose them to other songs by your heroes instead of wagging your finger at how terrible it is that they have ‘butchered’ one of them. Invite them to listen to some of your oh so hip and trendy groups.

Let’s be honest you weren’t born liking all cool and trendy music. You liked a mainstream pop act (which you will now deny), and then it led from there.

So stop being one of these dicks who like bands before anyone has heard of them, or liking bands before they’re even bloody formed, just like music.

I love all types of music, cos it got me to listening to a thousand different artists.

I love music, and I hate music snobs.
